SAGECROWD CLOSES FOUNDERS’ ROUND

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, January 29, 2014 – sageCrowd announced today the closing of its founders' round of financing at $850,000. Backers were Ogden Pond Group, Atlantic Canada's First Angel Network, and various angel investors.

SageCrowd is an online collaborative learning platform that delivers an easier way for fans of authors in professional development to reach their goals.

“We wanted to create an easier, more effective way for people to pursue personal and professional development. We believe collaborative learning is a better way,” says Sean Sears, sageCrowd co-founder and Chair. “We are delighted to work with the professionals at First Angel Network, Atlantic Canada’s largest angel network, and we thank them for their support.”

sageCrowd works with best-selling authors to help their fans deepen the adoption of the skills and concepts they teach. Already-announced channels on its network include:

  • Marshall Goldsmith – the world’s #1 leadership expert and author of 34 books, including New York Times best-sellers What Got You Here Won’t Get You There and Mojo
  • Gloria Feldt – co-founder of Take The Lead, professor, and author of several books, including No Excuses: 9 Ways Woman Can Change the Way We Think About Power
  • Jim Smith Jr.– author of several books, including Masters of Success (co-written with Ken Blanchard and Jack Canfield)
  • Justin Gittelman – sageCrowd's 1st Emerging Author (Whole Mind Thinking) and expert performance coach

“Collaborative learning is the only effective way to scale teaching the works of great authors to large audiences, and enables their fans to achieve real change in their lives as a result," says Sears.

“We've known Sean for years, and respect his business success,” said Brian Lowe, co-founder of First Angel Network. “sageCrowd has a convincing argument that collaborative learning can scale professional development and their list of authors already committed is strong evidence they're on the right path.”
